Coming in at Sunrise, watercolour
I painted this watercolour for Sunrise Therapeutic Riding and Leisure Centre, located in Puslinch, Ontario. I have been a supporter of this charity for many years – what they can do for children with special needs, through riding and working with their horses, is amazing. I produced a limited edition series of 100 giclée reproductions, which they have used as an on-going fundraiser, and as gifts for their supporters. Each one of these horses is a portrait of an actual horse or pony, and the same goes for the three barn cats. The “mother and child” are my sister Fiona and my daughter Sophie, and the girls leading the ponies in are all workers or volunteers at the Centre. The stone house in the background was “moved” there from its actual location, so the view could face the “sunrise” in the east and the beautiful old house could still be included in the painting.
